Troubleshooting: Louvers Not Closing Properly

If your louvers don’t close completely or there’s a visible gap between them, the issue is often caused by alignment problems or an obstruction in the mechanism. This guide will walk you through how to check and fix the problem.

Before You Begin

Take a Video – For electrical issues, videos are essential for documenting defects and helping our technical team pinpoint the problem.

Confirm Correct Motor Installation – The motor must be installed exactly as shown in the instructions, including its bolted position.

Start with Louvers Fully Closed – Before tightening any screws or bolts, ensure both the motor and louvers are completely closed.

  • S2 Models: Motor arm should be extended ~20 mm (0.78") when closed.
  • S3 Models: Motor arm should sit flush when closed.

Motor Bracket Placement: For optimal operation, the motor bracket/clamp should be positioned ~10" horizontally from right to left.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

1. Loosen the Motor Clamp Bolts

  • Locate the two bolts on either side of the middle center bolt on the motor clamp (as shown below).

  • Loosen these bolts slightly to allow the motor to settle naturally back into place.

2. Check Louver Positioning

  • Make sure the end louver (usually the first one installed on the right side) is correctly positioned.

  • If it’s misaligned, it can prevent other louvers from closing properly.

3. Inspect for Blockages

  • Look for any parts, screws, or debris that might be physically blocking louver movement.

  • Remove any obstructions carefully.

4. Verify Guide Rail Alignment

  • Use a long spirit level to check that the guide rails are perfectly straight.

  • Any bends or warps can cause gaps or uneven closure.

5. Measure Notch Spacing

  • Measure the distance between each notch (where the louvers rest) on both sides.

  • Make sure the spacing is consistent.

6. Adjust Motor Position

  • Slide the motor slightly farther to the right inside the clamp.

  • This adjustment can improve the closing alignment.

7. Double-Check Louver Pins & Clips

  • Ensure all louver pins are fully inserted and plastic pieces are flush.

  • Check that H-clips are properly secured.

8. Inspect the Louver Lock Rail

  • Confirm it’s installed correctly and that there are no obstructions preventing full closure.

9. Reset the Control Box

  • Press and hold the blue button (next to the blue light indicator) for about 20 seconds.

  • After resetting, re-pair your remote to the motor, lights, and heater if applicable.
